Marie was born February 19, 1920 in Scranton, PA a daughter of the late Ralph & Agnes Sullivan Smith. She graduated from the Thompson High school a member of the class of 1938. She married Rexford G. Soden of Starrucca, PA on January 27, 1940. She and Rex moved to Sullivan County in 1962. Marie worked for many years at the Endicott-Johnson Shoe Mfg. Co of Mildred, PA. She later moved to Tyrone to be with her daughter Lorraine. Marie was a loving spouse, mother, grandmother and great grandmother. Marie was a member of St. Basil’s Church, Dushore, PA, and St. Matthew’s Church, in Tyrone. PA. Surviving: Three sons: Joseph Soden Dushore, PA Stephen Soden Jefferson, GA Justin (Kathleen) Soden Clarksville, TN Two daughters: Rosemary (Carmen) Cosentino Susquehanna, PA Lorraine D. (Mark I) Zabitz Tyrone, PA Brother: Walter Smith Wethersfield, CT Sister: Dorothy Bowers Dushore, PA Sister-in-law: Wallie Smith Longmont, CO Ten grandchildren, thirteen great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by two sons: Gerald James Soden on January 31, 1969 and Vincent Eugene Soden on September 22, 2008 and a grandson, Michael Cosentino in August 1997; two brothers, Father Jude Smith O.F.M and Clarence Smith. A Transferal Service will be held on Saturday, February 2, 2013 at 9:30 A.M. from the P. Dean Homer Funeral Home, 206 Water St., Dushore, PA and will be followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 A.M. at St. Basil’s Church, Dushore, PA with the Rev. Joseph R. Hornick, her pastor, presiding. Interment will be in the adjoining parish cemetery. Friends may call on Friday, February 1, 2013 from 2:00 to 5:00 P.M. There will be recitation of the Rosary at 3:00 P.M. at the funeral home. The family will provide the flowers and ask that memorial contributions be sent to the charity of your choice.
