OBITUARY
Mary Cecelia Tourscher, age 101, well known life-long resident of Dushore, PA passed away on Monday, January 14, 2013 peacefully at her home.
Mary was born May 31, 1911 on German St. in Dushore, PA one of nine children of the late Jairus Harrison Thayer and Anna Coyle. She graduated from St. Basil’s High School a member of the class of 1928 and graduated from Marywood College with a BS in Science in 1932. She married Paul J. Tourscher of Dushore on September 15, 1934 and he predeceased her on February 18, 1968.
Mary began working for the telephone company in Dushore and worked there for many years. She later became the office manager for the Endicott Johnson Shoe Mfg. Co. of Mildred, PA for several years until she began working for the office of the Pennsylvania Department of Welfare where she became a case manager and retired from there after 26 years of service.
In retirement Mary remained active and played the mandolin with a trio composed of Albert Chiplis and Steve Mattichak, who entertained at various county functions and nursing homes to the delight of the residents.
Mary was an active and the oldest member of I.H.M. Parish in Dushore, PA and was also a member of its Altar and Rosary Society.
Surviving: Three sons: Jairus & Linda Tourscher and P. Daniel Tourscher both of Dushore, and Richard & Marita Tourscher of Rochester, NY; three daughters: Shelia Dacheux of Camp Hill, PA, Jean & Lewis Hope of Dushore, PA and Gail & Leroy Blair of Toledo, WA; twenty-one grandchildren, thirty-two great grandchildren and nine great great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.
A Transferal Service will be held on Thursday, January 17, 2013 at 10:30 A.M. from the P. Dean Homer Funeral Home, 206 Water St., Dushore, PA and followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 11:00 A.M. at St. Basil’s Church, Dushore, PA with the Rev. Joseph R. Hornick, her pastor, presiding. Interment will be in the adjoining parish cemetery.
Friends may call on Wednesday, January 16th 2013 at the funeral home from 2:00 P.M. to 4:00 P.M. and from 6:00 P.M. until 8:00 P.M. There will be a recitation of the Rosary at 3:00 P.M. by members of the Altar and Rosary Society.
