DEAN HOMER FUNERAL HOME 206 WATER STREET PO BOX 1 DUSHORE, PA 18614 TEL 570 928-8163 FAX 570 928-8116 Email pdh@epix.net www.homerfuneralhome.com OBITUARY Henry Merle Middendorf, age 90 of Dushore, formerly of Everett, WA, passed away on Saturday evening, September 8, 2012 at the Highlands Care Center in Laporte, with his loving family at his side. Hank was born on October 30, 1921 in Mildred, PA eldest of nine children of the late Clement J. and Alma Hembury Middendorf. He graduated from Dushore High School a member of the class of 1940. Hank served in the US Army during WWII serving in the Philippines, New Guinea & Luzon and was amongst the first troops to occupy Japan. He was discharged in 1946 and returned home to the farm. He married the former Carolyn Peterson of Dushore on October 19, 1946. She predeceased him on Sept 2, 1973. After farming for a few years they later made their way to the State of Washington where he became a union electrician. He eventually became a supervisor and was responsible for the electrical installation in the construction of many government buildings. In retirement Hank enjoyed driving his old 1990 Jeep across the country, visiting friends, and relative. He made this trip over five times. He was a member of the Immaculate Heart of Mary Parish, Dushore, PA and a member of I.B.E.W. Local #77 in Seattle, WA and a member of the American Legion, Post # 0006 in Everett, WA. Surviving Son: Michael (Debbie) Middendorf Coeur d’Alene, ID Daughters: Virginia (Robert) Askland East Wenatchee, WA Krista (Dennis) Ott Murrieta, CA Sister: Helen Saxe McGee New Albany, PA Brother and sister-in-law: Joe (Jean) Middendorf Castroville, TX Sister-in-law: Jacqueline Quinn Middendorf Orondo, WA Gladys Middendorf Moxie, PA Brothers-in-law: Francis McCarty Forksville, PA Ronald Peterson St. Albans, ME 9 grandchildren and several great-grandchildren, as well as numerous nieces and nephews, and a special niece and caregiver, Colleen McLaughlin. He was predeceased by a daughter, Lorrie Middendorf on July 23, 2006; 4 brothers; Clement Jr., Robert, Richard and Donald F. Middendorf, 2 sisters; Betty Jane Middendorf and Lois McCarty, and also by 2 brothers in laws: Richard Saxe and James McGee, brother-in-law; George Peterson.
