Walent, age 70, of Sugar Run, PA passed away peacefully on Sunday, July 8, 2012, with his loving wife at his side. Richard was born in Lyndwood, PA on May 29, 1942, a son of the late Ambrose and Helen Milukas Walent. He graduated from Hanover Township Memorial High School in the class of 1959. After graduation he joined the United States Air Force from which he was honorably discharged. He then went to work for the CIA; he was trained in Panama, and worked in Vietnam. After retiring from the CIA, Richard went back to school and got a job as a tool and die maker for Foster Wheeler Co. and from which he retired in 1992. He met his wife to be, the former Irene Prentice in 1980. They were married on April 30, 1981. Richard was a member of the Wyalusing United Methodist, Wyalusing, PA. He was also a member of the Wyalusing American Legion Post #534. He was an avid Penn State fan. He loved spending time with his family, whether it was going on outings, or just taking a ride in the country. Richard also loved working outside around the house. A Funeral Service will be held on Thursday, July 12, 2012, at 10:00 A.M. at the Wyalusing United Methodist, Wyalusing, PA with the Rev. Dale L. Russell officiating. A graveside service will be held at 3:00 PM at St. John’s Cemetery, 773 St. John’s Road, St. John’s, PA 18247. Friends may call on Wednesday evening from 6:00 to 8:00 P.M. at the P. Dean Homer Funeral Home, 1 Grovedale Lane, Wyalusing, PA. In lieu of flowers donations in Richard’s name can be made to the American Cancer Society, Bradford County Unit, 1948 E. 3rd St., Williamsport, PA 17701.
